Ludwig Persik plays the type of angular, electronically-tinged music that could only be conceived in the mind of a native New Yorker. A competence and art-world pedigree emanate from Ludwig, as a figure, with ease, and this is most evident in his music. Sweeping, pop choruses blend with playful, industrial instrumentation and create something ultra-modern that also manages to harken back to the Kitchen, David Byrne and a downtown Manhattan run by Keith Haring and friends. Persik’s father was an avant-garde composer and raised Ludwig amid the hustle of a critically demanding scene.
